4 Best Hot Tub Benefits of Using a Hot Tub In The Winter

OUR BLOG

You can enjoy the benefits of a Jacuzzi® Hot Tub all year long. During the cold winter months, soaking in a hot tub gets even better. The heat of the crystal-clear water becomes a delicacy and your escape from the cold weather. Of course, there are many more benefits than simply thawing your frozen feet.

1. Exercising In The Hot Tub

When it’s cold outside, it can become more difficult to exercise. The days of simply throwing on a pair of running shoes and heading outside for a run or hike is temporarily a thing of the past. Ontario winters can make going to the gym even more difficult for those who don’t wish to travel during snowstorms or when the roads are covered in snow and ice.

Your Jacuzzi® hot tub is the perfect place to exercise in the comfort of your own backyard when it’s cold outside. There are many hot tub exercises that can be done inside your hot tub that help improve toning, weight management, and overall health.

The buoyancy of the water creates an environment to exercise that is much easier on your muscles and joints. You can begin your exercise regimen with a comfortable warm-up, or some yoga, and finish with luxurious, post-workout relaxation.

2. Escape The Cold Weather

A fresh snowfall can have a beautiful aesthetic appeal. Unless you are all bundled up or watching from inside, it can be hard to truly enjoy the beauty of nature and your surroundings. Even when you’re wearing all the necessary winter gear and accessories, you can still get cold and risk getting sick.

Hot tubs provide a warm, jet-infused environment that is perfect for absorbing the serenity of a clean, white snowfall while helping your immune system naturally.

You are given the opportunity to increase the temperature, turn on the jets, grab a book, or listen to music, while you truly enjoy the outdoors. From the inside of your Jacuzzi® hot tub, you won’t have to experience the negative aspects of the freezing winter weather while you enjoy the peaceful setting of your backyard retreat.

3. Hot Tubs And Stress Relief

Often, the winter months come with a variety of added stress. Constantly shoveling snow, cleaning snow and ice from vehicles, driving on icy roads, and performing any car maintenance outside can put stress on the body. For some, winter is also the holiday season. With the holidays comes shopping, travelling, cooking, and planning. The pressure of the holidays on top of regular life and winter weather can add even more unwanted stress.

Over the course of several months, this can take a toll on your physical and mental health. Spending regular time in your Jacuzzi® hot tub to simply relax and experience the healing properties of the bubbling water during hydrotherapy treatments can help to relieve stress, improve sleep patterns and soothe sore muscles and aching arthritic joints.

4. Spend Quality Time With Family

Your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub is the perfect place to spend quality time with your family and loved ones throughout the year. The summer months are often utilized for activities such as camping, swimming, and biking. There are fewer opportunities during the winter months to spend time with your loved ones unless of course, you have a Jacuzzi® Hot Tub.

When it’s cold outside it’s easy to spend quality time together inside the hot tub. Most are in desperate need to escape the cold weather, but spending time cooped up inside can grow tiresome. In the comfort of your hot tub, you can create fond memories with your family and friends while, at the same time, enjoying the outdoors.

How To Prepare Your Hot Tub For Winter

A Jacuzzi® Hot Tub is the perfect addition to any Ontario home. They are not only an investment into your property but also to your overall health. There are many added health benefits to spending regular time in your hot tub.

It is crucial to properly maintain your Jacuzzi® hot tub as it ensures longevity and the best performance possible. There are several things that you can do to prepare your hot tub for the long, harsh winter months.

Stock Up On Hot Tub Products

Not only will you have fewer things to worry about during the busy winter months, but your hot tub will also be up-to-date and protected with the latest in hot tub technology. This is also a great time to schedule any required hot tub servicing and repairs before the difficulty of snow and ice arises.

Our talented team of hot tub specialists would be happy to help you schedule an appointment and complete any servicing or repairs.

Draining And Cleaning Your Hot Tub

Once the snow has fallen and the temperature has dropped, draining and cleaning your hot tub can become more difficult. Follow these simple steps to properly drain and clean your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub.

1. Power Down and Drain

Begin the process by shutting off the heater and turning off your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub. Once it has properly been shut down, you can begin to drain the spa. If your hot tub has air blowers, you should empty those as well. Ensure that all spa water is drained before moving on to the next step.

2. Clean Filters and Loosen Fittings

Once your hot tub is empty, you can begin to remove and clean the filters. Take out your hot tub filters and place them inside of a cleaning solution. While those are soaking, you can clean the filter basket too. Open any drain plugs located inside of your pump housing and use a shop vacuum to remove any excess spa water effectively.

3. Blow Jets

Your jet plumbing provides the perfect place for water to get trapped. If water is left in this area during the winter months there is a high risk of the water freezing and damaging your hot tub. You can manually drain this spa water or use your shop vacuum.

4. Clean the Shell

Now that your hot tub is empty, dry and all of the components are tended to accordingly, it’s time to give the shell a good cleaning. With the use of a spa cleanser, you can leave the interior of your hot tub sparkling and sanitary.

5. Refill or Cover

If you do not wish to use your Jacuzzi® hot tub during the wintertime you can protect it by securing the cover and locking it down until the springtime. If you wish to operate and use your hot tub during the winter months you can refill and treat the spa water with chemicals accordingly.
