General Hot Tubs Questions

Making the decision to buy a hot tub is a big one. It’s not something you do every day, after all. Your lifestyle can have a significant impact on the decision to purchase a hot tub. Before making the decision, ask yourself these following questions:

  1. Where in my backyard will I install a hot tub?
  2. Will the hot tub be for my entire family, or just for me?
  3. Will I benefit from fewer aches and pains, better sleep and reduced stress?
  4. Will I enjoy the convenience of access to hydromassage in the comfort of my own home?
  5. Will my family benefit from the additional family time in the spa?

If you said yes to one or more of the questions above, a hot tub might be right for you! Speak with one of our team members to learn more about the prices, sizes and brands available to you.

The size of your hot tub should reflect your intended use for it. Will it cater to the needs of the entire family? Is it meant just for you and your significant other? Or do you enjoy hosting elaborate backyard parties? Your lifestyle and layout of your backyard can help you determine if you would like to invest in a smaller or larger hot tub.

Most hot tub brands have models available in the following sizes and capacities: 2-3 seats, 4-5 seats, 5-6 seats, 6 or more seats. For a better idea of how big or small our hot tubs are, visit one of our showrooms in person today.

Hydrotherapy is a therapeutic technique that harnesses the healing properties of water. The combination of heat, buoyancy and massage helps to relax muscles, ease sore joints, improve circulation, and reduce muscle tension. Used by healthcare professionals all around the world, hydrotherapy can help to improve sleep patterns, reduce stress, ease aches and pains, aid in post-injury recovery, and soothe sore joints, among many other health benefits.

Hot Tub Maintenance FAQs

How often and in what manner you clean your hot tub will depend on two factors: how often the spa is used and the manufacturer.

  • Test your hot tub water with test strips once or twice a week.
  • Treat your hot tub water accordingly based on the readings from the test strips.
  • Clean the filter every two weeks with water from the hose.
  • Drain, clean and fill the hot tub once every three to four months.

For more information about the water management system and cleaning process for your hot tub, get in touch with us today.

A clean and functioning filter is key to an operational filtration system, as it catches and removes dirt and debris, keeping the water clean and free of impurities. We recommend rinsing the filter every two weeks with fresh water from the hose or kitchen sink. You can also use this time to spray it down with a filter cleaner and then continue to rinse.

Filter cleaning nozzles are available that can be attached to the end of a hose, which can help water to better reach the nooks and crannies of your filter. Soak your filter overnight in a bucket filled with water and a small amount of filter cleaner every two months to remove deep-down debris. We recommend replacing your hot tub filter annually to ensure a fully-functional filtration system.

How often you change your hot tub water can depend greatly on how often the spa is used, the quality of water used to fill it and how well the water is maintained. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend draining, cleaning and refilling the hot tub every three to four months for an optimal operation.

Sauna FAQs

An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses infrared heaters to emit infrared light and heat the body directly, as opposed to traditional saunas that heat the air around you. These saunas are designed to create a more comfortable and less intense sauna experience.

Here’s how it works:

Infrared heaters: Infrared saunas are equipped with special heaters that emit infrared rays, which are a form of electromagnetic radiation. These heaters are typically made of ceramic, carbon, or other materials that produce infrared radiation when heated.

Infrared radiation: The infrared radiation penetrates the body’s surface and heats the tissues directly, rather than heating the surrounding air. This can lead to a more gradual and comfortable increase in body temperature.

Lower temperature: Infrared saunas operate at lower temperatures compared to traditional saunas, typically ranging from 100 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit (38 to 65 degrees Celsius). Traditional saunas can reach much higher temperatures, often exceeding 200 degrees Fahrenheit (93 degrees Celsius).

Types of infrared saunas: There are different types of infrared saunas, including portable models, stand-alone units, and those integrated into spa or wellness facilities. They come in various shapes and sizes, from small one-person saunas to larger multi-person models.

Clearlight® Saunas create an ideal environment for rest and rejuvenation and with infrared therapy within the means of your home. Crafted with durable materials and an expert design, infrared saunas are equipped with a variety of features to help you make the most of your at-home sauna experience long-term.

While traditional saunas use steam or hot rocks for warmth, Clearlight® Saunas have black panels that line the walls, known as TrueWave® far infrared heaters, which offer a range of near, mid and far infrared heat. In these modern home saunas, the temperature is less important than the actual quality of the heat

Before using your infrared sauna, first let it heat up for about 15 minutes. Once you enter the sauna, you’ll feel your body begins to warm up and thermal energy increases. This process typically induces a deep and relaxing sweat.

Most Clearlight® Saunas will safely plug into any standard household outlet. It’s highly recommended that you hire an electrician to ensure that the unit is powered and connected safely. Most standard power outlets are about 120 volts and are rated at 15 to 20 amps. Clearlight® Saunas run on either 120v or 240v, depending on the size and model.

Clearlight® Saunas don’t require a lot of maintenance or cleaning. Since infrared saunas create dry heat, the only moisture produced within the sauna is from perspiration and the enclosed environment prevents dust and dirt from entering and accumulating inside.

The only maintenance or cleaning that is required is to wipe down the interior with a preferred sauna cleaner. To keep your infrared home sauna clean, we recommend laying down a towel on the bench and floor where you will be sitting. If you do notice moisture after you relax in a sauna, use a moist towel to wipe down the area. If you do notice dirt or dust inside your sauna, use a handheld vacuum to clean.

For hard-to-remove stains, try lightly sanding the area.
