OUR BLOG

Jacuzzi® is a household name around the world. Known for their exclusive and luxurious hot tubs, Jacuzzi® has set an industry standard for hot tubs that offer the latest in features and accessories, healing properties and advanced technology.

Being the most widely recognized name in whirlpool and hot tub hydrotherapy, it’s no surprise that Jacuzzi® has the most advanced and high-performance hot tubs and products around the world.

How Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs Began

Let’s go back to where it all began, in the early 1900s.

The hardworking Jacuzzi family immigrated to the United States from Europe to begin their lives as a family on American soil. The family turned their focus from aviation to water systems and pumps in California’s orange groves. In 1925, the Jacuzzi brothers made history in agriculture when they created the first submersible pump.

This technology was later beneficial on a more personal level for the Jacuzzi family. In the 1950s, the youngest of the seven Jacuzzi brothers was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Overwhelmed with the physical pain this was having on their loved one and the emotional pain it was having on their family, the brothers decided to take matters into their own hands.

The brothers utilized the submersible pump to create the J-300. The portable pump that was placed underwater in a regular bath and resulted in pain-relieving hydrotherapeutic treatments for their brother.

Henceforth, a niche market was created and the Jacuzzi family once again made history.

The portable hydrotherapy pump was later taken to the next level in 1968. Well versed in the technology, third-generation family member Roy Jacuzzi had worked in the family business since he was a teenager. He utilized the hydrotherapy pump to create and market the world’s first integrated whirlpool bath known as the “Roman”.

The patented therapeutic jets featured in the Roman provided a 50/50 air-to-water ratio, resulting in a healing and relaxing experience inside every Jacuzzi® Hot Tub. With the support of the Jacuzzi family, they were able to create an entire industry and positively benefit lives around the world.

Afterward, the Jacuzzi brand took off. In 1970 the hot tubs grew larger to accommodate the whole family. Then in the 1980s and 1990s, Jacuzzi® focused on adding features to their products. Waterfalls and energy-saving features were added, and then the hot tubs became more and more portable. They have associated with BBQs and backyard entertainment and offered in more colours and styles.

The award-winning Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs are sold worldwide. A past of hard work and success has ultimately paid off. Jacuzzi® is the world’s largest manufacturer of acrylic spas and has over 250 patents worldwide for advancements in pump systems, jet technology, air controls, and product design.

Who’s to say what the future has to hold for advancements in hot tubs, but we are certain that Jacuzzi® will be a part of it.
