OUR BLOG

Not to mention the touch of luxury and value it adds to your home. If you don’t happen to own a home sauna, but you’re curious to learn more, you can always read about why homeowners are investing in this popular affordable luxury, here. Otherwise, keep reading to plan the ultimate at-home spa day experience.

THE ULTIMATE AT-HOME SPA DAY EXPERIENCE

Whether you intend to enjoy this alone or with friends, below are a few ideas to help you restore your mind, body and spirit. You will need an infrared sauna, some towels, a robe, slippers, and a distraction-free day!

CONDITION HAIR WITH COCONUT OIL

Prior to entering your sauna, rinse your hair, heat some coconut oil in the microwave and then gently work the oil through your hair. Next, wrap your hair using a shower cap or a towel to prevent your hair from drying out and to keep your internal moisture locked in. Coconut oil is a great conditioner for all hair types that adds luster, shine, and softness to the hair. It can also prevent hair breakage and split ends. Another tip is to stay well hydrated before, during and after your sauna session, so be sure to drink plenty of water.

ENJOY A 15-MINUTE INFRARED SAUNA SESSION

As you already know, one of the best ways to escape from the daily stresses and strain is by relaxing in your home sauna. Warmed to about 150° F, your infrared sauna will help you to eliminate the buildup of toxins and heavy metals in the body through excessive sweating. The heat will also help open up the pores in your skin and bring oxygen-rich nutrients to the surface. Set your sauna for 15 minutes and enjoy!

TAKE A COOL SHOWER

By now you’ll be feeling super relaxed, thanks to the “feel-good” chemical endorphin that’s released as you’re enjoying the sauna’s heat. The next step is to rinse off all those toxins and heavy metals in a cool shower. The cool water from the shower will help the open pores to contract back to their resting size.

EXFOLIATE WITH SUGAR SCRUB

While still in the shower, bring out the sugar scrub and treat your body to some exfoliation. Sugar scrubs are a gentle alternative to salt scrubs that can remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells, without causing pain. Made up of sugar and combined with oil, often an essential oil such as lavender or rose, you can make one yourself ahead of time or buy one from your local beauty store.

MOISTURIZE

The pampering doesn’t end just yet! Once your skin is dry, follow up with a good moisturizer. Moisturizers that contain ultra-hydrating oils is a great place to start because it keeps the moisture locked in.

FACIAL MASK

Saving the best until last, apply your favourite facial mask for a deeper cleanse, before completing your skincare regimen with toner, moisturizer, and eye cream.
